The British Sporting Calendar now has a new fixture for August – The British Open Speedgolf Championships which will take place on August 16, at Dale Hill GC, in East Sussex.

Dale Hill Hotel and Golf Club general manager Carl Rundgren said: “Speedgolf is a brand new version of the great game and one which gets the heart racing, blood pumping and takes the sport to new limits and away from its traditionally staid image.”

Golf continues to struggle with falling interest and there are regular calls to address the pace of play in the game. Even Rory McIlroy has pitched in: “The real thing with golf at the minute is it takes a little bit too long. A shortened format would help as people don't have five or six hours a day to go and play golf.” (Interview with Dan Roan BBC Sports – 19th May 2015)

Speedgolf is one exciting way to address ‘pace of play’ and attracts both golfers and runners, even some elite athletes “I shot one of the best rounds of my life the first time I played Speedgolf. I've been hooked ever since.” Nick Willis - Olympic Silver Medallist Pam Painter of British Speedgolf explains: “The 2015 British Open Speedgolf Championship will present a new challenge. It’s to be played at Dale Hill, a testing undulating 18 hole course; a worthy adversary for Speedgolf competitors, yet not too physically demanding for novices of this new sport.”

“The challenge in Speedgolf,” added Pam “is balancing your running pace with your capacity to swiftly and accurately play your shots to get the lowest combined score possible.”

The field is set to be wide open for the Championship Title. Trophies and Bragging rights for the winners.
